Edicule (Tucson, Arizona) presents a raw display of atmosphere-laden black metal on their first full-length album "Finitude", released in June of 2025. Describing their sound as "transcendent Black Metal from the burning desert night", Edicule captures the ghostly emptiness of the very place they draw inspiration from: a bleak, relentless feeling of desolation.
The drums are somewhat mixed to the background, letting the guitar and vocal work take precedence. The vocal performance is especially powerful, a definite highlight of the album. There's enough variation of fast and mid-paced parts, as well as atmospheric droning guitars and soaring, blackened riffs, to keep the album interesting throughout its runtime. Recommended!
